Glad I could help! Ya it does take some time to manage it all, but like anything you get more efficient at it. I would say about an hour a day is sufficient. Haha no I haven't read that book, but you're version sounds like a good one;P

Thanks for the follow-up. Social media takes a lot of time! I can barely keep up with my LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, my own blog, not to mention the 12+ RSS feeds I subscribe to in my reader program. Have you read the international best seller called "The World Without Us"? It's about what would happen to planet earth if, for some reason, humans disappeared. Great read. I now wonder if that same author should write a follow-up: "The World Without Internet, Cell Phones and Other Wirelesws Handheld Devices". What would we all be doing during our lunch hours and evenings??!

Good question! In terms of the bookmarking side of social media, no one thing in itself will directly increase your google rank. What you're doing is:
1. Submitting your link to Social Media sites, increases your presence on the web, which gives more credibility to your website when google searches for you and ranks you.
2. When you submit bookmarks you should have "tags" attached to them, so if someone were to search delicious for say...all things tagged with "health", you may be in this category, thus someone may see your site in a search and then go to your website. That increases web traffic which in turn, bumps your rank.

To be as simple as possible, social media is about engaging with others. The way it helps you is it increases your web presence and lets others know you are out there. If you have something good to say or a great service to offer you can help get the word out with social media, and if people are interested, they'll talk about it.

It may sound cliche', but Just remember that the best way to "GET" is to "GIVE."

Hope this answers your question!

This is a great summary. Can you be more specific about the ways with which to use bookmarking to increase your Google ranking? I joined Digg a couple of weeks ago and am not really sure how to leverage it other than to bookmark the odd article/video post. Thanks!
