Marketing with QR codes

QR-Codes are two dimensional barcodes that are designed to have its contents decoded at a high speed. The acronym QR is derived from the term “Quick Response”.

But because QR codes allow for more data to be embedded than the standard 10-digit bar code, and because scanning requires less effort than typing a URL, the QR has taken to widespread marketing popularity.

QR-Codes can be used to store all sorts of data including: a URL, a Phone Number, or a Message . When the QR is embedded with a URL, and is scanned on a smartphone, the Mobile Device will automatically open a browser to that URL. If embedded with a phone number, the call is immediately placed by the phone., and when embedded with a message, that encoded Message is displayed.

How do QR codes work?

Nearly every mobile phone today has a digital camera. The camera, along with free decoding software available on the iPhone, Blackberry and the Google Android platform, is used to capture a picture of the QR-Code. The QR-Code software decodes the information and then transforms the data held within the QR-Code to a meaningful action for the mobile phone:

Dirt and Damage Resistant

QR Code has error correction capability. Data can be restored even if the symbol is partially dirty or damaged.

360 degree high speed reading

QR Code accomplishes this task through position detection patterns located at the three corners of the symbol. These position detection patterns guarantee stable high-speed reading, circumventing the negative effects of background interference.
